More omiyage flavors

Soy Sauce (09/2009)

It's been a while since I've done a strictly Omiyage post. So here we go. I remember being super disappointed by the Soy Sauce (しょうゆ風味) one. It was so promising and so disappointing. I remember that it actually reminded me of pancakes. It was surprisingly sweet is what I'm trying to say.

Uji Matcha (05/2010)

After that, we've got Uji Matcha (宇治抹茶). (Uji is a city in Kyoto Prefecture, and Matcha is of course green tea.) And from Kobe, there's Kobe Pudding (神戸プリン風味). I'm sure the Matcha one was yummy and slightly bitter, whereas the Pudding one was too sweet. From the Shikoku area, I got a Citrus Blend (柑橘黄金ブレンド).

It was probably quite good. And finally, I bought one at Village Vanguard so it's not so much an omiyage as it's just a Regional flavor. Anyway, it's Yokohama's KitKat and it's Strawberry Cheesecake. Yum!

KitKats from someone amazing

The other day I got an attempted delivery notice in the mail. I wasn't expecting anything so I had no idea what I could be getting. Well, anyway the next day the box was successfully delivered. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my friends had sent me a box of snacks! She had gone on a trip to Kyoto and picked up one of the local KitKats - Houjicha (Roasted Green Tea). In addition, she sent Rilakkuma's hotcake and Mos Burger's  rich white chocolate ones.


I've had the houjicha ones before but I've never had a box, so the picture I had before was just of one individually wrapped KitKat. It's probably one of my favorites - just the right amount of tea flavor and sweetness.
 
The hotcake ones are what one would expect. Sweet and hotcake-y. Great for kids and Rilakkuma! The Mos Burger Noukou White (Rich white) were suuuuuuper yummy. Neither my friend nor I can figure out white Mos Burger has a special KitKat. We also have no idea why it would be this flavor. But it's yummy and cute!

More Omiyage KitKats

My friend and I went to Kyoto for a week and we happened across this special KitKat. A popular souvenir from Kyoto is a sweet called Yatsuhashi. There's two types - soft and hard. The hard kind is like a hard cinnamon cookie. This KitKat tastes like that, so basically it tastes quite cinnamony. Yum!

I'm not sure where the person who bought this went but this Blueberry Cheesecake is from somewhere within the Kanto Koshinetsu area (The greater Kanto area?). Anyway, one of the boyfriend's coworkers brought this in to his office and he snagged me a photo and a KitKat. To be honest it was a little too sweet for me but not so bad.
