I found another KitKat from the オトナの甘さ (Adult's Sweetness) series. This time it was Orange Peel. Luckily this time I got to share the new flavor with my mom, who was visiting! The KitKat balls have started to grow on me, and they are perfect for sharing. My mom and I tried them at the same time. 

"3. 2. 1....."

We had two very different reactions. I really liked the bitterness of the darker chocolate and the citrus peel flavor. My mom fought with all her power not to spit it out on the ground. She clearly doesn't have the refined KitKat tastes that I do. Or something like that. She probably wasn't prepared for the bitterness level actually. I didn't read the flavor carefully so I just said "It's orange!", so...

Anyway, I liked it.

Strawberry for Adults

The オトナの甘さ (Adult Sweetness) has come out with a new flavor. To be honest, I'm surprised they're just now coming out with this. Maybe the had already released this at one point and I had just missed it. Why have raspberry and passion fruit KitKits before strawberry? Especially given how many strawberry flavors KitKat has already been through. Strange.

Anyway, as far as strawberry goes, this is as good as the others. I'd like to try it again but after putting it in the freezer. I think it'd taste better cold. My friend seemed to wholeheartedly approve. All he could manage after popping one in his mouth was "Oh! That's good".

Adult Sweetness: Passion Fruit

オトナの甘さ: Passion Fruit 05/2013

 It's another one of the オトナの甘さ(Adult Sweetness) KitKats. I have really come to like this series for a few reasons. The first one being that they're more active than the regular flavors these days. The other reason being that they tend to be a little less sweet and more biscuit-y, so it doesn't taste and feel like you're eating pure granulated sugar. If you're wondering, this Passion Fruit flavored KitKat gets Neena's seal of approval!

Raspberry for adults?

You may or may not recall an earlier post talking about オトナの甘さ or the more grown up "adult" KitKats. They're usually a bit less sweet and they have a bit of a biscuity texture to the chocolate. Anyway, one thing I love about the airport is that it's easy to find KitKats there. They had a few that I had never tried before but most were omiyage ones, which are regionally limited, so I went with the seasonal KitKat, which is time limited.

The flavor is Raspberry. Now, raspberry is one of my favorite berries. It falls second to blackberries. So I was excited about this KitKat. As an オトナ flavor, it's a bit disappointing. It's REALLY sweet. But as a KitKat in general, I have no complaints. It was quite yummy and I'm embarrassed to say that I finished the whole bag on my own already. It's a good thing that I only bought the one bag.

So KitKat has a line called オトナの甘さ which translates basically to sweetness for adults. Basically the KitKats aren't quite as sweet as their regular counterparts and the chocolate has bits of biscuits in it, so it's a little more crunchy. The most recent one, the matcha flavored one, is one of my favorites. I might even buy this one a second time! The others are good too, and you can buy the regular chocolate one anytime.
