Omiyage Flavors #2

Okinawan Box?
Kyushu Box?

One of my roommates occasionally goes on business trips to other parts of Japan. If there's some KitKat there that I haven't had yet, she's super sweet and brings me back some. When she went to Okinawa she got me Purple Sweet Potato KitKats (紅いも). I had gotten some from her when she went to Kyushu earlier in the year. But the box is different. I don't know if they changed it during the year or if it's the Okinawan package.

Speaking of the Kyushu omiyage, she also brought me Yuzu and Pepper KitKats (柚子こしょう) that time. It wasn't particularly delicious. I like this flavor in chips but not chocolate.

Sakura Matcha

The December 2011 re-release.
The one I originally had in March 2010

I'm a huge fan of Sakura flavored anything. I can't tell you how much I look forward to spring every year for all the sakura things. This past fall, KitKat had a thing online where people could vote for the flavor they wanted to see released again in December. Sakura Matcha (桜抹茶) won. I was hoping for one I hadn't seen before but I wasn't sad in the least that this one won.

Strawberry #1 (Strawberry Tarte)

There's so many different strawberry KitKats. To be honest, they all taste the same to me. None of them have tasted bad, but none of them have been amazing. Anyway, this is the most recent one I've come across: Strawberry Tarte (パティシエのストロベリータルト味)

Omiyage Flavors

Today I received some Kitkats from a student who visited Nagano over the holiday. He brought me Apple flavored ones and Cayenne Pepper ones. I didn't really care for the Apple ones but my roommate loved them. We both liked the Pepper ones because the kick was subtle and really complimented the chocolate.

What is this?

This blog is to keep track of and show all the different KitKat flavors I try in Japan. The count is around 60 now. I'll be slowly adding them here so please bear with me. I'm a bit of a procrastinator.... but hopefully this is interesting enough to wait for.
